And to think was was once acceptable advertising…
good point – it’s still made by-the-way, in (of course) china
I happened on to you via a mutual blogger friend, and am glad I did – you’ve some great photos here and I enjoy your brief and wry commentary. This advert, though, is… really something.
thank you for ‘happening by’ your visit is much appreciated!!! i actually bought this sign in a small town in louisiana a few years back – strange town, but then again, it is in louisiana – your words are very much appreciated!!
All I can say is ‘Yikes!’ And my next thought was ‘unreal’ but I know way too well how very real this stuff is. Miami in the 60s-70s was an interesting introduction to understanding life. And you notice, I didn’t change the tense to ‘was’. I’m just glad an ad like this isn’t normal and expected/accepted anymore. Humans are slow, but I think we do move in the right direction now and then.
your words are so very true – in regards to human beings – but have a look at the bizarre (to me anyway and those who watch and ‘listen to’ msnbc) the current restrictions being proposed and instigated in certain ‘southern’ states regarding voting and voter “registration” (southern is now a ‘mind-set’ not necessarily a location) the more things change, the more they remain the same – peace (and apologies for the like “seriousness” exhibited lately – wonder what came over me?)
Serious is good too. What good does it do to post a bunch of fluff all the time….it’ll just blow away in the wind. To me the beauty of a good blog is that it is the expression of the blogger, and it should follow the waves of life. And though I feel for your tough times, I’m enjoying bobbing on the seas with you.
And yes, although I’m in a very different sub-culture in the Pacific NW I pay close attention to the tension in the south and the political implications and the ebb and flow of reasonable civil rights. Very concerning right now, to be sure.
why thank you, but the ‘troubled seas’ appear to be calming and in fact on the horizon is nothing but ‘blue skies, do i see’ – hopefully by-the-by things are calming in america as well: in spite of what appears on the tv screen nightly – thanks for your words, they are much appreciated
